Conflicting information

-GVAC states make-up air slowed to min speed implying that it is not balanced because he can
not lower speed. The contract states they will balance the airflow, period. It does not say that
they would stop if their design was flawed and incapable of working.  Note their request for
additional funds to essentially balance the hood conflicts with their stating it is balanced. (See
video which proves it is not balanced.)

-States that I should not have built a small room. The room was complete prior to their
beginning work.  If he could not balance the flow in the room he should not have undertaken
the project. Contractors are responsible for the successful completion of the job not only if they
do not have problems or if their design is bad. Imagine your house leaning and them saying that
it is your fault because you made one room smaller or had an extra window added.

-Balancing the hood has nothing to do with the room size if the flows are properly calculated for
the room. Balancing is balancing, period. The exhaust and makeup air sizes might be different
along with a different sized air outlet. If the makeup air return duct was properly designed the
return air would not suck air out the front of the hood. (See videos)

-GVAC states that air balance is strictly based on volume and not velocity. The California
energy commission discusses velocity as a critical component of proper hood design. If makeup
air velocity is so high that it pulls effluent out the front of the hood it causes an IMBALANCE in
the airflow regardless of whether the air volumes in or out. These are inter-related factors and
are relevant in contrast to what GVAC states. See California Energy Commission report.
